'The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction not a destination'.
- Carl Rogers (Pioneer of person centred therapy)

How I work

Therapy offers an important step in discovering the world around us and finding our place in it. For some people, coming to therapy is a big step. It can take courage to identify a need to heal, recover or progress. My approach aims to ensure that you feel safe in the knowledge that you can trust the therapeutic process. Thinking about painful memories and feelings can help us work towards a more fulfilling, enriched and happy life. I encourage you to come with an open mind about the positive possibilities that therapy can offer you.
So, if you are feeling anxious, depressed or just lacking direction we can work together to find positive ways forward for you in your journey through life.
You may have experienced a traumatic event in the past and need to find ways to overcome pain, loss or bereavement.
Perhaps you are struggling in a relationship with your partner, family member, work colleague or just find it difficult to find confidence or self-esteem.  These are all very normal human emotions. Talking therapy can help with any of these issues as well as many other more specific ones.

Hi I'm Reuben

I live in a stunning valley near Stroud with my wife and two young children. We love our rural idyll and feel fortunate to have the lifestyle it offers. I enjoy spending time with my diverse extended family and cooking for friends too.

I have travelled extensively and love exploring different countries and cultures. For over ten years I was a professional photographer and still take some commissions.

Occasionally DJing, I love music, art, reading, cooking, playing guitar and painting when I can. I enjoy swimming, outdoor jogging and playing tennis.

Most of all I love the work I do in talking therapies by helping people to grow or improve their own lives.

I am a qualified Hypnotherapist registered with the National Hypnotherapy Society.

Person Centred Therapy

My approach is a person-centred one. This means I will work from your own personal set of circumstances. Therapeutic healing starts with you.
Our sessions together are underpinned by empathy, being genuine with each other and unconditional acceptance of you and anything you want to bring to our sessions. Then, depending on your preference, we may use other therapy models to help you move forward.

Integrative Therapy

Maintaining the core values of empathy, unconditional positive regard for you as well as congruence (being authentic), I also use other modes of therapy. These include Person Centred; Cognitive Behavioural (CBT); Psychodynamic; Transactional analysis; Gestalt and other creative practice and models.  Such as art therapy, connecting with nature, timeline work or visualisation.
